Caryn Houghton has been throughout the United States and Europe pursuing knowledge in the name of art. Her love of art history began on a six-month study abroad program in Vienna, Austria. Houghton received her BA from Brigham Young University in Humanities with an emphasis in Art History, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Taking a break in her education, she served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany Mission. After attending BYU, she had the opportunity to work for a year as a graduate intern at the Smithsonian National Museum of American Art, which led to her first job as a Database Assistant at the museum. In 2009, Houghton began teaching at Brigham Young University–Hawaii as an adjunct instructor for art history classes. She began her studies in Humanities/Art History at California State University in 2010 and received her MA in December 2014. Since then, Houghton has worked as a dedicated BYU–Hawaii professor, served as a leader of cub scouts in the Boy Scouts of America, and in Relief Society and Primary Presidencies for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
